Wow. This album is a lot of things, exceptional not being one of them. Listening to this nearly 11 years after it's initial release has really dampened my enjoyment of it. I remember this coming out when I was a child. I wasn't the biggest fan of rap music yet and didn't have much exposure to it. At the time though I do remember almost every song on the radio either having a rap feature or a remix with a rapper on it.

Maybe it goes without saying but hindsight is 20/20 and naming a remix album featuring Black artists and the prominence of Black music "Make America Psycho Again" is a little comical now. It fits in line with the original counterpart of this remix project being titled "American Beauty / American Psycho". That said, the slogan of "Make America ___ Again" is no longer seen as comical or even remotely realistic in 2026.

That aside, the remixes on this album have some highs. "The Kids Aren't Alright", "Uma Thurman", "Jet Pack Blues" are the three highlights I have from this LP. Wiz Khalifa's dance floor remix of "Uma Thurman" reminds me of some contemporary musicians mixing EDM and rap. That was cool. Azealia Banks' rendition of "The Kids Aren't Alright" is really quite refreshing and lush. Shame Azealia has become such an internet troll and grifter. The latter half of the album actually has some pretty okay remixes. Nothing horrible but nothing amazing. Overall, pretty middling.
